New Journaling Page Added Sorry, I've not posted any new tips this past
week or so, been so busy writing a new page for the website about journaling - I'm pleased
to say that it's now finished and 'live'!
I know lots of scrapers find it hard write in their albums, so go checkout the new scrapbook
journaling page and get some helpful hints and tips on how to get started.
Photo Mosaics
This is a nice, simple technique that gives a rather funky look to your pages.
You get your photograph and crop it into evenly sized pieces, squares work well and I
like horizontal strips too. It doesn't matter how many pieces you cut, do as few/many as
you want - experiment a little to find the look you like best. Once cut you now need to
mat the photograph pieces onto your cardstock, making sure that you leave the same amount
of space around each individual piece.
Also experiment with different colors for the cardstock - a white or matching
background highlights the mosaic effect, whilst a contrasting color subdues it.
Memorabilia For A Vacation Layout
Are you planning to do a vacation layout soon? This is a fun way for you to add some
memorabilia to your page:
Whilst away on vacation buy two postcards. On one journal about some of your most
enjoyable holiday memories, date it and then mail it back home to yourself - it's fun to
see if you get home before the postcard does! Save the second postcard.
When you start your layout use the second postcard to show the picture and reverse the
other postcard so that it displays the journaling, postmarks and stamps.
Safeguard Original Photos
Thought I would continue with the "old photographs" theme from my previous
post for today's tip:
When using an old photograph, don't crop the original - this is most likely unique and
a one-off. It's better to get copies made and use these for croping and mounting onto your
pages. Keep the original photograph safe, ensure that it is stored in archival quality
photo holders or boxes.
Removing Old Pictures
Are you having trouble getting old family photographs out of those magnetic albums?
Heres a tip - try using dental floss to help remove some of the more stuborn
pictures.
Baby's Footprints
For the first entry in the scrapbooking ideas blog I thought I would post one of my
favorites - it's so cute!
How about using your baby's footprint in a layout? It's easy
use a washable stamp
pad to ink baby's feet and then gently press onto your page until you have a firm imprint.
There is a huge range of colors available to co-ordinate with your layout and the ink
washes right off!
And
of course, you can do handprints too if you want!
