bring your scrapbook pages alive
Our first ever reader's submission to the scrapbook idea blog...
Well done Irene Killmon from Wachapreague, VA on being our first ever poster.
This is Irene's tidbit... "I get out of date wallpaper books for free and cut them
up to make scrapbook pages, envelopes, tags and anything else that I happen to need."
My daughter does something similar with free paint chips that she gets from the local
diy store. Although they're not archival quality, for scrapers' on a budget these are
great tips for making your own cheap page embellishments.
Go on... follow Irene's lead and submit your own scrapin' hints to the blog. It really
is easy - just fill in the form at the bottom of our current scrapbooking idea blog page
and hit the button. Come on, I want to hear from you!
New pages added to the 'ideas' section
As promised back in August, I've managed to add a baby scrapbook
idea page to the ideas section.
This new page has a great scrapbook idea and plenty of pointers for making an adorable
album full of baby's 'firsts', along with links to some baby themed products: baby scrapbook
paper, baby
scrapbook album and baby scrapbook kit.
There will be some more baby ideas added in the future as well as other themed ideas,
so keep checking back and watch this space!
Make your own die-cuts
If you can't find the die cut you want, how about making your own? It's easy…
Browse through the free clip art sites on the internet or the clip art CD that came
with your computer to find exactly what you need.
If you don't have any graphic/photo software installed on your computer - don't worry,
use Microsoft's 'Word' program for re-sizing, rotating and reversing your chosen images.
When you're happy print out your images onto colored paper/cardstock and there you have
it - cheap, new die cuts. Or you can print directly onto a 'transparency' sheet, cut out
your images and use as templates.
Having trouble with your punches?
Here's three quick maintenance tips to help keep your punches in tip-top condition.
If you have a punch that has stuck, pop it into the freezer for a little while - that
should help free it up. Do you have a 'sticky' punch? Try punching through some wax paper
(this lubricates the punch) a few times to ease it. Are your punches going blunt? Then,
punch through some aluminium foil, or fine sandpaper to sharpen them up again.
